For the last 12 months we have been partnering with Cornwall College and Software Cornwall to create a unique course for young people to learn the crucial digital and commercial skills they need for a successful career in software development.
Frustrated by outdated curriculum and a lack of practical experience, we’ve all worked hard to design a course that focuses not only on learning about cutting edge technologies, but also on developing workplace skills and preparing for a commercial environment; it’s called the TechBac (Technical Baccalaureate).
The two year syllabus involves learning by working on real-life projects while building an online brand to showcase your work portfolio to potential employers. All this will take place at the Bluefruit offices in the Barncoose Gateway Centre, and instead of teachers, students will be supported by a team of professional software developers and specialist educators.
Covering topics such as Mobile App Development, User Experience, Object Oriented Programming and Game Development, alongside Project Management and Workplace skills, this course will set the students up with a City and Guilds Technical Qualification (Level 3) as well as high level real-life skills that will certainly stand out on a CV.
