Many markets have seen an increased need for position information for applications, and our comprehensive experience processing GPS data means we can advise on  how best to integrate this feature into your embedded product.

Manufacturers such as Novatel and  Arwest offer GPS modules that can be easily interfaced with a processor or microcontroller, usually using a custom serial protocol. This simplicity however is not necessarily evident in GPS data interpretation.

Correct setup of the GPS modules is key to ensure that they only send the required information, with the communication protocol needing to be carefully implemented with a focus firmly on robustness.

Our engineers have written software for these GPS modules in two recent projects.

The goal of the first application was to provide extremely accurate position information for Oil and Gas exploration, and the second module was used as part of an automotive fuel-saving management system as part of a fleet management feature.
