Working Culture

We spend a third of our lives in the workplace, so why not make it as enjoyable as possible?

Bluefruit software like to do things a bit different. We believe that we get the best possible results for our clients by empowering and investing in our people. That means weekly training session, flexible working hours, control over your own working environment and a company that was built by engineers for engineers.

We like to say that this is about us offering a free range environment to our engineers. They get to be themselves and work in a way that they feel will get the highest quality results for our clients. We work hard to create an inclusive environment and are disability confident employers, ensuring our offices are a place where anyone and everyone with the right talent can thrive. We also provide great maternity and paternity leave, making us a great place for parents to work.

We don’t just believe work/life balance is a benefit, we feel it is essential. We’re privileged to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK – and we all want time to enjoy it, so we focus on flexi-time, not overtime. We understand people have active lives outside of work and we get the best results from our teams when everything is in balance. In a sector that is known for high turnover, burnout, and mental health issues – we’re doing everything we can to create a place where people can do excellent work and still enjoy what they do and who they work with.

As well as always having an ‘open-door’ policy and monthly meetings with the whole company, we encourage our teams to take part in daily ‘stand-ups’; an Agile concept that involves going around the room and having each person briefly say what they worked on yesterday, what they’re working on today, and if there’s anything they’re stuck on and need help with. This mini-meeting is a great way to stay up to date on a project, and is a place where everyone can pool their knowledge to solve difficult issues that others are experiencing.

We often organise trips and training days that encourage team-building and practical learning simultaneously – but we’re not all work! Beach barbecues, paint balling and bowling are just some of the activities we like to do as a group.

"Bluefruit is so much more relaxed and flexible than any other company I’ve worked for. This approach means I’m able to fit my work hours around my rather hectic lifestyle!"

Todd, Software Developer

"I'm really happy at Bluefruit for many reasons - the flexible working hours fit in with my family life, the team are friendly and passionate about what they do (and that rubs off on everyone!), the projects are pretty cool and are often things that can be lifechanging for their target audiences. I've never had so much technical training provided anywhere I've worked before and that makes you feel like your career is really valued. The yoga sessions at lunchtime each week really leave you chilled out too"
