Job Duration: 2-year Apprenticeship

Salary: £7 per hour

Application Closing Date: Thursday 4th April 2019

This apprenticeship offers work-based training around Bluefruit’s software development and software testing activities. You’ll work alongside different development teams – side by side with Software Testers and Software Engineers.

After initial training, you’ll join our Software Testers as part of their team. Our mentors will teach you about software development and the processes involved.

Within your assigned team, you will be reporting to the Team Lead, who is a senior Software Engineer and mentored daily by either a Software Tester or a Software Engineer. From your apprenticeship training you will learn the significance and importance of the correct processes being used for both creating and testing software. You’ll work on real client projects and see how your training affects the work that you do.

Over the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be trained in Software Testing and Software Design. Training will include structured learning of coding in C++ and how to implement software solutions using an Agile process.

For the duration of the apprenticeship, you will be supported and guided by our Head of Development. You will receive regular structured training alongside other members of our staff.

Outside of the office, we’ll send you on a couple of away days to other companies within the Cornish digital sector so that you can see how they work.

The close-knit nature of our teams means you will be constantly nurtured and supported, encouraging you to be proactive in all aspects of team activities. Within the Bluefruit environment, we aim to ensure that you gain experience of general work practices such as Health and Safety, personal effectiveness, and professionalism along with interpersonal and written communication.

We aim to provide teaching in the areas of IT, Maths, Electronics and touch typing, so that we further enhance the learning experience and add value to your skills.

Based in Cornwall, Bluefruit Software has been delivering projects for over 18 years and we know that quality code comes from a happy team. The company was set up by engineers, to be the type of place they would always want to work and we’ve worked hard to create an environment where programmers can thrive. We believe in empowering our team and we give everyone the opportunity to create your own office space including laptops with docking stations, multiple monitors, ergonomic keyboards, and the option to have a stand-up desk or even to sit on the floor.

While we work on some very exciting projects for large companies, we’ve worked hard to help our clients understand that we have a No Crunch policy. We won’t make you work evenings. We believe your weekends are for your time. We never force our people to do overtime.
